Beckham turned into cartoon hero

London - You can find England soccer captain David Beckham on magazine covers, billboards and television ads. His latest incarnation: a cartoon computer game star who blasts monsters with free kicks.

The animated Beckham looks more like his 3-year-old son Brooklyn, but sports the Manchester United star's latest spiky haircut.

In the "Go Go Beckham" game, the midfielder battles a soccer-hating villain named Mr. Woe who steals soccer balls.

"It's great. I always dreamed of being a superhero when I was younger," Beckham (26) told The Sun newspaper. "It could be a bit strange seeing people playing a game that has a much younger-looking version of me."

The game will be available in August.

Beckham is recovering from a broken foot suffered in United's Champions League quarterfinal against Deportivo la Coruna on April 10 but hopes to make the World Cup starting May 31.

His pregnant wife, "Posh" Spice Victoria Beckham, may not join him. She's due in September.

"Obviously it's going to be quite close to my due date, so I'll have to wait and see what my doctor says," she told OK! magazine.

"I'd love to go and support him, but when you're six months pregnant you have to do what's best, and David wants what's best for me and our new baby."

The England squad travel to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on May 13 with wives and girlfriends, before moving on to Japan and South Korea. - Sapa-AP
